Changes to the purchase flow for high-value items

We have reviewed the purchasing flow for products over a certain amount in order to prevent fraudulent orders.

Specifically, we set the stock on the product page to 0 and asked customers to purchase a numbered ticket to purchase the product. For example, the Kalita NEXT G2 is listed for 48,800 yen.

This purchase ticket costs 1,000 yen. Please purchase this first. If the order is not fraudulent, we will send you an invoice for the difference of 47,800 yen, and you can settle the amount by clicking the payment button on the invoice.
Once payment has been confirmed, we will begin the shipping process. Stock will be allocated at the time of purchasing the numbered ticket.

You may be wondering why this happened.

When I was managing our sales, there was a time when I worked really hard but the only thing I got paid was a Starbucks latte . What was going on? When I checked the statement, I found that most of the sales were from fraudulent orders, and fraudulent orders also incur a settlement fee, so the total settlement fee, including fraudulent orders, was charged against the actual sales (sales minus fraudulent orders), and almost no payment was made.

Even though this prevents people from being tricked into purchasing goods through fraudulent orders, it still results in losses due to payment fees.

However, we want to continue to introduce more and more niche products to our customers, so we cannot stop selling high-priced items. We also plan to sell personalized gifts in the future, so some kind of measure was urgently needed. Therefore, we decided to have customers buy a numbered ticket, check that it was not a fraudulent order, and then have them pay the original amount at the checkout.

It's a huge hassle. We can't help but feel bad for forcing this burden on our customers. However, rather than paying the transaction fees for fraudulent orders, we would like to put the savings back into our customer service. We hope you will understand.
